To Verify Maximum Power Transfer Theorem

Procedure

Let us go through the experiment of Verifying Maximum Power Transfer Theorem.

  1. Get the Required components on the working area.
  2. Form an Appropiate circuit on the Breadboard by connecting the components to their right terminals.
  3. Check if the connections are right,if so you can now start to take Readings.
  4. Set DC voltage(0-20 V). Keep the Voltage Value constant.
  5. Set the Resistance Value(1 ohm - 200 ohm).
  6. Place the Ammeter in series with resistor (R 3).
  7. Now note the Ammeter readings.
  8. Increase the Resistance and Note all the readings in the Observation table.
  9. Plot the Power - Resistance graph to Verify Maximum Power Transfer Theorem .
  10. Repeat step 4 to 9 for another set of resistance value.
  11. Power versus Resistance graph should be a Parabola.
  12. Therefore from the graph we see that the Maximum power in a circuit is transferred when RL = RTH .
